  • Apply to a higher education institution
  • Applying for a study permit meanwhile completing a degree and then finding a job to pursue Permanent Residence

Language Proficiency:   You have to give language tests from recognized authorities/organizations in case you want to migrate to Canada. These are as-

  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
  • CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program)
  • PTE (The Pearson English Test) which will also be accepted by the end of 2023.

These tests will provide scores in four parameters- Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.

Note: Irrespective of which test you go for, these language test outcomes will be valid for 2 years only.

Work Experience:  The first step to immigrating to Canada permanently is through Express Entry Profile.

  • Your score and rank in the system will decide your invitation to apply for permanent residence.
  • You must be in a job mentioned under TEER 0,1,2,3 categories according to National Occupational Classification (NOC).
  • You must possess at least one year of full-time experience of work in the three relevant previous years.
  • Proper legal documentation and authorization with a rational and justifiable work permit.

Note: Out of these factors mentioned, you need to score 67 points out of 100.

Canadian Immigration Programs

There are more than 100 routes to immigrate to Canada but the most prominent ones are mentioned below-

Express Entry Program- 

The most popular way to migrate to Canada is via Express Entry Program.

Under this program, 3 categories of programs are available to choose skilled workers via-

1.  Federal Skilled Worker Program- To be eligible for this, you need to get a minimum score of 7 Canadian Language Benchmarks in all four abilities mentioned above(Language Proficiency).

~ Education-  You must have a degree, diploma, or certificate from a Canadian high school or post-secondary institution which is equivalent to the credentials mentioned under Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).

~ Evidence of Funds–  You must show valid proof of funds to settle in Canada unless you get a job offer from a Canadian employer.

~ Skilled Work Experience–  As mentioned above, your work should be in the same type of job as mentioned in NOC.

2.  Federal Skilled Trades Program-Organized under the group NOC and consists of major groups of technical trades, transportation officers, occupation in natural resources and agriculture, chefs, manufacturing and utility operators, butchers excluding aircraft.

3.  Canadian Experience Class- All points mentioned above are the same except Self-employment which does not count under this program.

Provincial Nominee Program-

Under this, you can migrate to Canada on Permanent Residence basis if you get nominated by a Canadian province or territory.

  • For this, you need to fulfill the minimum requirements as disclosed under the province’s non-Express Entry streams as each province has its own PNP except Quebec and Nunavut.
  • And, you should be nominated by one of the territories or provinces.
  • But if you aren’t recommended then you must visit their website directly to meet the terms and conditions and contact them. These are as-

~ Alberta

~British Columbia

~Manitoba

~Northwest Territories

~Nova Scotia

~Ontario

~Prince Edward Island

~Saskatchewan

~Yukon etc.

How to apply for PNP?
  • After finding the optimal PNP from the list mentioned, apply directly.
  • You will get a Provincial Nomination Certificate if your application succeeds.
  • Then, you can submit your application for Permanent Residence.
 
Family Sponsorship-

Under this program, you can sponsor your relatives and family members including spouses, children, parents, etc.

  • To apply as a sponsor, you need to be-
  • At least 18 years of age
  • A Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • A person registered as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.
  • Apply to sponsor and fill out the forms available online under Instruction Guide.
  • Check the financial evaluation, photo specifications, and medical condition statements and download them.
  • If under 18 years, then fill out the digital forms online like-
  • Generic Application Form for Canada ( IMM 0008)
  • Schedule A- Background/Declaration ( IMM 5669)
  • Additional Family Information ( IMM 5406)
